Sedation Dentistry vs. Nitrous Oxide

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during certain dental procedures. Nitrous Oxide sedation, used by Dr. Runne upon request, is a minimal sedation method, meaning that you breath in nitrous oxide (also known as “laughing gas”) from a mask placed over your nose. The nitrous oxide helps you relax while also ensuring that you are fine to drive yourself back home after the procedure is over! Nitrous Oxide is a safe and effective sedative that is mixed with oxygen to promote relaxation. It does not put you to sleep nor does it leave you with any drowsy side effects. As soon as the mask is removed, the effects wear off.
If going to the dentist terrifies you or if you simply are uncomfortable, then Dr. Runne’s Rockford dental practice is for you since we make sure that you are as comfortable as possible each and every visit. Ask us whether nitrous oxide would be a good option for you!
