Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain (or plastic at times) used to cover the front of your tooth, recreating the tooth’s natural look.

Not only do cosmetic veneers help change the color and shape of your tooth; they also provide your tooth with strength by mimicking your natural tooth enamel. Veneers can improve teeth damaged or stained by accidents, injuries, and/or root–canal procedures. Moreover, many of our Rockford-area patients choose cosmetic veneers as a corrective solution for wide gaps between their teeth or teeth that have been chipped or worn down.
The implementation of cosmetic veneers requires little to no anesthesia, making the process of implementation easy on our patients. Dentists believe that the great thing about veneers is that they last a long time and are highly resistant to the permanent staining that can occur from coffee, wine, tea, or cigarette smoking.

Normally, before you can undergo the complete cosmetic veneer procedure, we ask that you come in three times. Your first appointment with Dr. Runne will deal with the diagnosis and treatment plan. During your second appointment, which last up to two hours, we will prepare your mold and gently buff your teeth in order to make room for the veneer. This means that about half a millimeter of your tooth is removed and this is when we may require a local anesthetic. Your third and final visit is the bonding visit, which likewise takes one to two hours as the veneer is bound to tooth or teeth.

Cosmetic veneers can help create the smile you have always wanted!
